My hubby and I were able to have lunch here last week and were very pleasantly surprised. We had heard about the great menu there for dinner, but lunch was a wonderful experience. We entered the restaurant when they opened at 11:30am and were led out to the small balcony area. The ocean view was breathtaking! They have a limited lunch menu, but it's relatively inexpensive. There were about 5 menu items that come in sets which included a brothy soup, salad, main dish, and a non-alcoholic drink. The sets ran from 800 yen to about 1500 yen (Both our orders from the pictures were about 800 yen). The food was delicious and more than enough for the price. There's also an extensive drink menu for both lunch and dinner and they accept yen, cash, and credit card for payment.
Transit Cafe's not too toddler friendly in terms of space, but we plan on bringing our 5 and 3 year-old kids because one table is located next to a tiny rock garden that I think they'll enjoy playing in (I just hope they don't start pelting people down below the balcony with rocks!).
Getting there:
Transit Cafe is located along the Sunabe Seawall. From Kadena Gate One take a left onto 58 and then your first quick right by Family Mart. Follow that road until you hit the sea wall. You will be across from Transit Cafe when you see THIS on the sea wall itself. The building looks like THIS.
We just got back from dinner here (on your recommendation) and it was fabulous! We took our 2 year old and did sit outside next to the rock garden! We had a great view of the sunset as we dined on a delicious camembert fondue, pasta with spinach and salmon in a cream sauce, and pork in a mustard glaze. We can’t wait to go back and try out some of the other dishes that looked so good!
So glad you liked it, Kimberly. Another good one by the Sunabe seawall is Hokulea above The Beach Hotel. It’s got a fabulous view w/lots of interesting items on their menu. One of these days, I’ll blog it when I remember to bring my camera to dinner.

My friend and I visited recently. We had outdoor seating. Food was good, just wish there were bug repellents of some sort near the tables? ..had a few bugs flying near and onto my food
Friend had the fondue set (came w/ vege, bread, chicken) and I had the open sandwich set (soup, potato salad, sandwich). Requested a reserve seating and they honored this also..so call ahead if you want to ensure you have a table when you get there. Oh, and dinner menu is much more extensive than lunch. Drinks selections looks delic!
Im trying to find out if this cafe’ serves dinner past 6pm..?? I plan on taking my husband here for his birthday without the kids..
Yes, they do serve dinner after 6pm. I’m not sure of the exact hours, but we have been there twice for dinner after 6pm. I would make a reservation since it’s a small space. Fabulous food!
We tried Transit Cafe today. The food was pretty good, however, the service was very slow. And half of us received our food long before the other half of our lunch group (I noticed that everyone who ordered the Special of the Week received their lunches first… I don’t know if this had anything to do with the time lapse between orders or not…). We made a reservation and they seated our party right away. But after waiting so long for our food to arrive, lunch took over an hour and a half. The food was good and I wouldn’t mind going back, but definitely on a day when I have a couple hours to burn for lunch.
Just had dinner there this past Saturday night with my girls and it was delicious. I agree that the serving of the dinners were slow but the food was good. I had the buttered soy sauce beef meal(whatever the name of it was).
I will be going back.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. We had fondue- which was very delicious… My husband had a pizza and I had tried the salmon… It was delicious. We had a great time…
