The garbage truck plays music exactly like the ice-cream truck did back in the day. With that kind of heads up, I can drop coffee and children to drag bags to the curb in the nick of time.

Hai sai ojisan! What I loved mmost about Okinawa was the friendlyness of the people.
Mata ya!
I love the garbage truck tune too! It took me a while to figure out what it was at first. I was quite sad to find out that there was no ice cream for sale.
That’s funny, ’cause just this week I was like, “Oh my goodness. The garbage music is driving me nuts! I can’t listen to it one more time!” I wondered if the garbagemen dream in that music at night or if they wear earplugs.
I admit though, it is quite useful!
I had no iDEA! Have to admit…feel a little sadness in the news [not that I had plans to buy the creamery] and a bit delighted all at once. Who knew stinky trucks could be so useful AND bring smiles and fond memories?
Hmmm. I’m picturing the reverse…someone raised in Oki now living in the states wondering why children run in groups to the garbage truck and where the garbagemen store those treats they pass out to all of their little fans.
