A few months ago, Julie and I nominated Meredith for a contest that photographer Serena Nicole was running. To our delight she ended up winning a free summer session of photography classes with Serena Nicole herself.

The hubby and I watched Meredith’s kids for the first class held at N’s Garden and we were oh so generously rewarded with their chocolate croissants…not one, not two, but eight! I don’t know what I was thinking but I let Meredith leave with her kids and no croissants. Selfish, selfish me especially since there was no way we could eat all of these croissants.  Well, they actually did not last more than a day. They were so delicious that we inhaled them two at a time.

After months of yearning for these directions I have finally gotten them….courtesy of Meredith who got them courtesy of Serena Nicole. Thanks so much for this gem! Can’t wait to get my hands on some more of these croissants!

Directions from Kadena:

Go STRAIGHT out of Gate 3 that is Rte 26. Stay straight - go past Karing Kennels, BC's CARS, SE Botanical Gardens/Kurashiki dam signs. When you arrive at the T intersection (Rte 329), make a left. The street sign says Nohorikawa. Continue straight for approximately 5 lights. You will pass the McDonald's among other things. The Lawson's is your landmark. At the Lawson's make a right onto Route 36.Stay on Route 36 for just about 1.5 KM exactly. You will pass a Burger/Pasta place, and a pet shop. Look out for the N's Garden signs on the right-hand side of the street. Once you see the large red sign, pictured in Serena's photo, TURN RIGHT off of Rte 36. Follow the signs for N's Garden. Be careful because there will be a fairly quick turn after that first turn off of Rte 36. You will travel down a windy road. Continue to follow the N's Garden signs (the final one is in Kanji, in red). It leads you through a dirt road and then you will see the final N's Garden sign. N's Garden is up the hill. Park anywhere in the huge lot at the top of the hill.

Directions from McTureous: Take a right out the McT gate. At the second road after base take a right. Follow it until you start seeing the N’s Garden signs (Bright Colors and you turn right at the 1st sign) and it will get you there. It takes around 7 min. If you get to the building on the corner that has the circle sign with store name Lips you have gone too far.

In the comment section of another post Bambi was kind enough to provide these directions to N’s Garden from McTureous. Thanks Bambi!

So we finally managed to try out N’s Garden for ourselves and it was MUCH swankier than what I’m used to! I spotted the baby grand and glass stemware on the tables and was worried about having the kids with me. Great place for a lunch with girlfriends or for a nice meal out with the hubby but perhaps not as ideal for families. It all worked out though. We sat out in the garden and the kids were able to run around and look at the fish pond.

The food was really good and reasonably priced. We ordered beef curry, chicken curry, and pasta with meat and vegetables. Each meal came with a choice of drink (the apple mango juice was really good!),soup, salad, and freshly baked croissants. Total cost came out to about 4000 yen including 5 more chocolate croissants to go. Ahhh, those croissants! Better than I remembered!

Their tel# is 098-973-6806. I would call to check on their hours because I think they don’t open until 11:30 (but I’m not sure) Definitely worth the trip though!

Their hours are 11:30 – 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 on weekends. Here is their website: http://cafensgarden.ti-da.net You’ll need a web translator like Yahoo Babelfish to read it. I love to go to this restaurant with my husband.

Aviva took me there when I visited for my “adventure of a lifetime trip” and it is truly special. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful cottage style garden and had hibiscus tea and croissants AND she surprised me with a croissant to enjoy later! Reading this post and remembering N’s Garden has me smiling…

Can’t believe I JUST made it out to this place. It’s kind of an adventure just going there, ’cause you’ve gotta wind your way up and down this little road that goes through a bunch of fields until you finally reach the oasis that is N’s Garden. Really, if you are jonesing for a good croissant, this is the place to go and it’s worth the trip. According to a sign behind the bar you can order them to take out too! The garden was very pretty (as you can see from the pics!) and had a bunch of toys in it for the kids too. Thanks for the post Julia!

Fabulous! The croissants and pain de chocolate (chocolate croissants) were wonderful and the chicken and mushroom cream sauce pasta was wonderful and very fresh. They have a kids menu with hamburger steak for 650y or al a carte rice, croissants, and other items for about 100y-200y. They had cute kids plates, cups and silverware, so though it is a bit nicer than most places, they are friendly to well behaved kids. There are many low tables with china cups and plates for sale, and glass stemware as well, so I would not go with children who will want to move around while you are eating or are the type to try to run through the establishment. We had a wonderful time, and will be back again frequently.

I love this very elegant place. Lots of china and glass stemware. Mostly women eating there chatting quietly, gazing at the beautiful flower garden out the windows. I agree with Amanda that I wouldn’t bring kids that are too young to sit still and eat calmly. Go with your girlfriends or the hubby.

What are the hours for this place in 2011? Is it a good spot for Ladies Night Out on a Friday evening?

  11. Melissa Johnson says:

Hi, I would love to visit this restaurant need to find out their hours. Could anyone assist? I called the shop, and we were unable to communicate regarding the hours of operation.
