One thing I hate about moving is having to find a new hairdresser. Usually, a referral by a good friend will help alleviate some of the anxiety in trusting someone to my mop lovely lady locks. But what if my own friends draw a blank? What if the service isn't readily available on-base? What if finding such a service off-base seems impossible? Then its time to ask not just one friend but a whole community of friends.
Lets help these ladies out!
One of our readers needs information on extensions:
I'm trying to grow my hair out for a wedding that I'll be in in August, but I just got a really bad haircut and am in the in-between stage with my hair length. If I didn't have this wedding coming up, I'd just cut it really short and start over. I'm curious about getting hair extensions just so I can feel good about my hair until it starts to grow out more. I've never had them before and know nothing about them (how they're put on, how long you can keep them on, how to care for your hair after you get them, how much it costs to get them, etc.). Is there anyone on island that does them that I can call to ask these questions? I noticed there was one other post about this, but it was from June of last year and the website it gave is no longer up and running, so I'm assuming that person has moved already (it was someone on Kinser, I think).
And another of our lovely readers has a question about dreadlock care.:

I was given this website from my neighbor. They ship to APO’s and offer differnet products that these two ladies might find useful: http://www.hairsisters.com
Hope this helps!
I am moving to Okinawa and looking for a hair dresser to transition my hair. I have been 4 months without a perm and hoping to find someone to finish the process.
I am natural and I highly recommend Itsami. She can be reached at 090-5743-3023. She has a shop called Mimi’s that’s close to the Starbucks outside of Camp Lester. She does great work, stop by and see her portfolio and pictures.
Yukari, thanks for doing my hair yesterday
I really like my new hairstyle. If anyone is looking for a good hairdresser in Okinawa, I strongly recommend her!
I am visiting Okinawa, and I am thinking of getting some hair extensions.
Yukari, do you do hair extensions at Borjan?
If you do please let me know, so i can go by and ask more in detail about what i want to get done. Thank you.

Does anyone know where to get hair extensions done, without glue, or weave? Thanks
If your worried about hair then DONT! my wife is the best on the island even if she doesnt admit it. She went to a redken school; not your usual “license” place … you actually have talent to be there. I’m a little more bold the she is and have no problem saying how good she is and you should know that you will walk out my house and see. I am extremely proud of hwo amazing she is and i see and hear endless results of woman loving there hair.

@Joshua: does ur wife do extensions?! If so, how much?
Hello… just got to the island and thought I am very excited about it all… I have some major worries about my hair. As most ladies are, I am picky about my hair and left a great hairdresser in the US. But… I will make it work here too.
I have a short cut (Michelle Williams – like) and am currently blonde. I have waited as long as I can to do my roots and would love any reccomendations for a good place to go for a good short cut and great color work. I am a natural brunette but do not want to give up my blonde if I don’t have to.
Please let me know.
