There’s just something about a rainy day, an oversized cup of hot chocolate, a cozy comforter and a good book that makes life’s troubles seem far away. I know not everyone loves to read, however with all the rainy days we’ve had lately some of you might yet discover that book lover deep inside of you trying to get out. And once you’ve found a good book, one that sucks you into a story and holds you there until the last page, you probably would love to share it with someone who loves to read to.

As there seems to be an abundance of book lovers here on Okinawa, I was not surprised to find there are several book clubs. One such club is OkinawaHai Society’s ‘Those who love to read’ group. The book club meets the second Thursday of the month, 7:30 PM at Ts café in Yomitan. They also hold a monthly book swap so that you can share those great books with others.          There are plenty of other book clubs out there. Some groups are every structured and others are more relaxed. A friend of mine recently started a small group that meets every week. “We call it a book club but we usually enjoy each other’s company more than talk about books.” Whether you are in a club that would welcome some new faces, want to start up a new group or just know of another group, please comment us.
