If you love Manza Sub Shop you will be happy to know the wonderful owner opened up a place closer called Big Midows. I was overjoyed when I found out I’d be able to chow down on my favorite meal in Okinawa without driving 30-45 minutes. I absolutely love the food here. In my opinion there is not a more delicious sub in the world than the Okinawa Herb Chicken sandwich. My mouth is watering as I type this. I had introduced Manza Sub Shop to all my friends, and now I am informing them there is a place much closer with the same great sandwiches and service.
Next time you take a walk on the lovely Seawall out of Kadena Gate 1 make sure your tummy is hungry. Stop by Big Midows and enjoy a scrumptious sandwich. They offer an Okinawa herb chicken sandwich, smoked salmon sandwich, Greek style sandwich, and a veggie and cheese sandwich. You can choose to get a half or a whole. Each sandwich also comes with coconut soup, french fries, and a small pickle. The coconut soup is amazing. At first I thought it sounded weird, but once I took my first bite I was hooked. It is quite possibly the best soup I have ever had.
They also offer fresh fruit juices which are just as amazing as everything else. If you aren’t feeling like juice there is soda, Orion, and water to choose from.
Prices range from 750Yen-1280Yen for the sandwich sets, 480Yen for fruit juice, 100Yen for canned soda, Orion is 500Yen.
Hours: Open Every day 11am-9pm
Directions: Go left out of Kadena Gate 1. Make the very first right. Then turn left at the 3rd stop light. Make your 2nd right (there is a sign for Sunabe Smile Dental Clinic on the corner). Big Midows will be ahead on your right. You may have to park along the seawall.
Payment: Yen & dollars, credit cards soon
Note: There is not too much space inside to eat, but you can order to go and go sit on the seawall and enjoy some nice Okinawa weather if there is no seating available.
Menu:

I love this place! I actually tried to go today before I read this, but it was closed (May 4th) for a holiday. Go soon!
Looks like you went with a crazy bunch….especially the wackjob throwing out the peace sign.
I’d been wanting to try the Manza Sub shop for some time, but never found my way out in that area. But, today I got the chance to try Big Midow’s and WOW is all I can say! The sauce on the Okinawan chicken sandwich is amazing and for a good 30 minutes after we left, I was still raving to my husband, “Damn, that was so good!”
Amazing sandwiches here. I thought the chicken herb was the best sandwich in the world until I tried “the Greek”, phenomenal!
We tried to eat here today and even though the hours on the door stated that they were open, they were not. It was 1:30 pm on a Wednesday
Just some FYI I am pretty sure they closed down
But if you loved them and have never been to the original one, it is still open.
