Sounds of reggae music, the smell of jerk chicken and a bright red awning make Bamboo Café hard to miss as you go down BC Street.  My husband and I go there all the time because it is delicious and the prices are great!

The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere and serves Caribbean/Jamaican food, along with many other items.  I highly recommend the jerk chicken sandwich (comes with french fries) which I usually get.  My husband gets the jerk chicken dinner (comes with rice and a salad).  But there is much else to choose from: jerk chicken wings, shrimp cocktail, spring rolls, coconut chicken soup, fried rice, sea food salad, and so much more.

Their calamari is the best I have ever had – big and juicy!! And they have a great drink selection. I get the mango juice, and friends of mine have had their alcoholic beverages and said they were great!

The prices for the food are very fair. We spend on average about 1800 yen for a jerk chicken dinner, jerk chicken sandwich and a mango juice. The calamari is about 500 yen. Mango juice is fairly priced at 350 yen – it is good and well worth the price. Nothing is really over 1000 yen and even the alcoholic beverages are reasonable, starting at about 500 yen.

  1. Had lunch there today. The food is nothing to write home about, but it is good. The atmosphere has a cozy Caribbean feel, and being located on Park Ave, it’s a nice place to take an after-meal stroll. The hours have changed slightly, to Tues-Sun 11:30am-10:00pm (closed Mondays and 4th Tuesday).

  2. This restaurant was just ok. I had a Jamaican roommate in college and my cousin’s husband is Jamaican so I have had food WAY better than this. If I go back, it will be to try the fried rice since I ordered the jerk chicken and steam rice, which was ok. My husband was not pleases either. WARNING: they do smoke inside so if you hate the smell of cigarettes like I do or don’t want your little ones around it, don’t risk it. You never know who’s going to light one up! Yes, they do take cash & you have to pay for your own parking now. Sauce Live is much better than this restaurant. They serve New Orleans style food but the wings remind me of the Caribbean. YUMMY!

  3. Simple entrees but they are very good! I ordered the jerk chicken meal and I was really pleased! The chicken was not super fatty (i have found chicken to be really fatty at most Japanese restaurants) and the side items were good as well. If you are looking for a good meal that is somewhat plain (still very tasty) this place is great!

  4. So I visit this place this week and I enjoy the setting it was small and cozy nice place for a first date or a night out without the kids . I actually took my daughter so it was ok they don’t have high charis. We order the jerk chicken and the jamaican rice. I thought it was good but to me the rice was too spicy. The chicken was great though . I also order the mango drink and it was freshly sqeeze tasted great . My husband order the long island and he enjoy it but to much coke. The prices are reasonable between the two of us we spent like 4,300. But the worst part was parking we could not find parking for nothing we ended up parking in that parking garage where its free for one hour for Bamboo Cafe customer and 200 yen after that .
