If you have ever driven south on 58 towards Naha or live on Kinser I’m sure you have see this store before and wondered what it is. I visited it recently and it is one of my new favorite stores.

This Do-it-yourself store has everything from hardware and lumber to camping supplies, appliances, household products and housewares. They even have those fuzzy, 1970 car dash covers!

It is kind of like a mini-Walmart minus the clothes and groceries.

Some of their prices are better than the exchange, for instance they have large stacks of printer paper for 200Y. One of the reasons I love this place is the fact that they take VISA. They also take USD but not $50 or $100 bills, and of course, Yen.

There is a small parking lot out front or you can drive around back for additional parking, and around the back is also the ‘outdoor garden’ area. I haven’t had a need to visit that yet, but I can’t wait to check out the plants in the spring.

Directions: Going south on 58 towards Kinser/Naha it will be on your left hand side. Go past the Garlic house and Blue Seal Ice Cream. It is across the street from lime green Pachinko and right next to the new Faraho Pachinko. Turn left at the Faraho and parking is around back.

  1. They make household and car keys here. Had 2 car keys made today for about 750 yen. Make sure to ask the cashier for the service counter and they will take your keys, give you a number, and tell you approximate time you have to wait. Keys were perfect as spares for our vehicles and they do work.

  2. I went to Do It Yourself store outside if Kadena Yesterday and gate 5 is closed. If you ext gate 1, go left. Make another left on the 23, first light. Drive till you see gate 5 to your left, then make a right, it’s past the 100 yen plaza. The store will be on your right hand side after the first light. Also the sign was down so I past it the first time but the building looks like a warehouse. But the store is great and yes a lot like Walmart… It has everything except groceries.

  3. People at Kadena can just go to the one near gate 5. If gate 5 is open, go straight up that street about 3 blocks, the store will be on the right. They also have an automotive shop that does oil changes, tires, headlights, and other minor jobs. You can sign up for a discount card which saves you a few yen on every purchase and offers other discounts on specific days of the month. Tabata is another good home store that has outlets scattered around the island.
