Mother Coffee | Okinawa Hai!

Guys! I found a really awesome coffee shop that you need to check out! It was just opened on June 22nd by a young couple who have great style and personality. Sakura and Tarou not only make you feel welcome in their new shop, but they brew a great cup of coffee. They open at 7am (7AM!!!!!), do take-out, and offer four versions of dutch baby pancakes. If that isn’t enough for you, they have both indoor and outdoor seating AND a hammock!

It’s tucked just far enough off of 330 to be away from the hustle and bustle, and is surrounded by beautiful trees and plants and is even accessorized by a sleepy calico cat. Go, tell them Okinawa Hai sent you, and enjoy your caffeine buzz!

***They currently offer dutch pancakes (the first I’ve found on the island), a toast set, and panini.

  1. I am always on the hunt for that ” spot” of all spots. To date Mother Coffee is that spot. It was tucked away just behind my neighborhood for a few months before I found it and now I rarely travel further than five minutes to “get away from it all.” It is a park-behind-your-friends kind of place which adds to its “muchness.” The food is top-shelf and the coffee is worth every aluminum yenny. Quality over quantity with no regrets…..except that maybe you didn’t find it sooner. Tarou (the owner) is a trained chef and Sakura takes barista-ing to an artistic level that would make Michelangelo tip a nod her way as he enjoyed his creative cup of coffee. I love this place and I recommend it highly. See you there!

  2. My husband and I just came from Mother Coffee. What a great place, and what sweet owners!! The coffee is amazing. I had an iced strawberry mocha, and it was like getting a carefully crafted piece of drinkable art! I’m a writer, so I asked them if I could come there to write once in a while. Sakura explained they have no wi-fi, which is okay for what I do. I think I just found my go-to place to get off the base!!

  3. The coffee here was the best we have had on the island! They have pour over and aero press (espresso) I got a berry dutch pancake (first I’ve had) and it was delicious! Husband got the bacon Dutch pancake which he also raved about. Really quaint setting, and super friendly staff! Definitely will be going back soon! Send your friends because Google says the place is “permanently closed” – of course not true!

  4. This place is so yummy! So different, relaxing, with very nice and friendly staff! I recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy some quiet time. Its really peaceful and a bit secluded. Coffe and meal are delicious, and they open at 7am!
