Paanilani: Hawaiian Pancake House l Okinawa Hai!

I’ve never had so many pancakes as I have here in Okinawa. I’m used to the ones at Coffee Casa, small perfect sized pancakes that don’t leave you super full. The experience at the Hawaiian pancake house was much different.

First, I recommend going early. The first time I went and tried to order the most popular dish (the Macadamia Nut Cream Pancakes) they had already sold out of them for the day! I settled for some chocolate chip pancakes that were pretty amazing! When I finally went back I was able to get the Macadamia nut ones. They didn’t disappoint (even for a non-pancake lover like myself)!

The portions are good, you can also get things added on such as Spam, bacon, an egg, and typical breakfast items. This is a great stop on your way to Nago for the day, or just as a special occasion to get in the car and drive for some pancakes!

If you go during “peak” hours there will likely be a wait, so you sign your name in the book and wait on the benches that they have outside.

As is with most things here in Japan, presentation is key. They leave no detail overlooked. The plating is beautiful but not complex. The Macadamia Nut Cream Pancakes are plated with sliced banana, just the right amount!

  1. Yummy. We have been here a lot. It’s consistant good food and service. It’s only about 10 min from Camp Hansen. They have a point card that is a big money saver if you frequent their establishment. Nuts nuts is my favorite-the kids pancake option is well sized for even a hungry 8 year old- and the coffee is very good.

  2. We had the nuts, nuts pancakes and the king bacon plate. Both were delicious. My husband says the bacon is the best bacon on island. We’ve been here three years, and just finally made it up here. I’m really glad we made it.

  3. I am here from the United States and my daughter and son-in-law have been my tour guides….I have been so lucky they have taken me to so many wonderful spots. My son-in-law recommended this pancake place of which we drove for an hour, it was a pretty drive. I loved the nut,nut banana pancake and would recommend it. The people were so friendly and fun of fun! The breakfast was delishious!

    • The plain panckae option is ¥650- kids plate is about ¥500and comes with a drink. Drinks are ¥300 for tea or coffee with purchase of a pancake plate, water is free and self-serve. The other options range from ¥800 for nuts nuts to ¥1000 for the fried chicken w/ pancake. The servings are LARGE & I stay full for a long time.

  4. The pancakes were absolutely delicious! We are definitely going back!
    Couple of things:
    Family friendly, minus high chairs
Parking lot is on the right, opposite side of the street from resturant
Small inside, typical Japanese resturant, but food is great! Especially if your a bacon lover! The King Bacon is no joke!
