My parents flew into Okinawa from Seattle a couple of days ago and since, we’ve been meeting and greeting relatives. One of my aunts asked me if I get lonely without my parents and sister around. Of course I do. But the sting of loneliness is easily relieved via my computer. I keep in touch with the latest curtain choices, gripes about work and detailed weather information from back home. My stateside friends and new friends made in Okinawa also give me glee when I get to open an email or get poked. Its also how I stay up to date with the world around me and how I figure out how stuff works. If you’re reading this right now you are part of the fortunate 21.9 percent of the world’s population who use the internet, according to THIS site. My computer and the internet are not just luxuries to me. I’d give up most of my material possessions before cutting this lifeline out of my life.
