Okinawa Hai fallback

CONTRIBUTED BY JULIA

For those of you who like barbecue ribs with meat that is falling off the bone and cornbread in a skillet then this is the place for you! Yummy, yummy, food. It can be quite busy so I’d recommend making reservations.

And from DOWNTOWNJULIEBROWN

I was really happy to find genuine Memphis-style BBQ which kicks butt even by US standards. The owner (a real sweetheart) is actually from Virginia but whatever, his BBQ rocks! The sauce is brown sugar based and portions are generous. The mac n cheese and sweet potatoes are my favorite side dishes and the kids’ meal is very generous. One warning is that they do fry their chicken wings in peanut oil for those of you have kids with allergies.

The restaurant is small (like 5 tables in all small). They do have high chairs but there is not a lot of running around room. I have one active toddler who despite my best efforts won’t stay seated at restaurants so I prefer to take out. They do take out very quickly. The easiest way is to show up and order or call as early as 30 minutes before they open and request the order.

Hours: Thursday-Saturday from 1800 until 2200. Last call for food orders is at 2130.  No reservations.
