Wafu-Tei

CONTRIBUTED BY MONETTE EAMES

Wafu-Tei is a Japanese restaurant chain found all over Okinawa.  Sometimes, they are located inside San-A stores and sometimes, they are located near San-A buildings. They offer a huge variety of delicious Japanese food at reasonable prices. With some meals, you can order a set which comes with a type of noodle and soup dish.

Their kid’s meal comes with an entrée, drink, dessert, and a Japanese type of toy/eraser (which my kids love—they beg me to go to Wafu Tei just for the toy). Some of the kids’ meals are filling enough for me, and I eat a lot. Their menu is in English and they also have pictures. Everything they serve is always fresh.

If you just happen to stop by and are starving, they also offer an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu meal, which is where you swish your meat and vegetables in broth to cook in hot water (delicious) or yakiniku, which is where you can barbecue your meal in front of you as you sit at the table. With the all-you-can-eat meal, you can also order side dishes. These sides can also be very filling as there are a lot to choose from.

We have never been disappointed with our meals here. Another awesome thing here is the all-you-can-drink hot tea, which is an added plus. And the waiters and waitresses are always fantastic, very friendly and often speak a bit of English. Wafu-Tei is one of our favorite and always-good places to eat on island. We love it because no matter your mood or Japanese food desires, there is always something to suit your taste.
