Haebaru’s Beaury Park

CONTRIBUTED BY HEATHER OLSEN

Thanks to a tip from a great friend at amymaddocks.com, I hit another playground gold mine! Introducing, Haebaru’s Beaury Park. The translation error in the name only adds to this park’s cuteness. It is a nice problem to have when I cannot get the entire playground in the picture because of how large it is!

The park is adorned with two pickles, flowers and bees for decoration. This park offers plenty of adventure for the older kids and enough safety for the little ones to enjoy it together. The adventure includes plenty of slides as well as ladders, steps and rock walls for climbing. The rope bridge has the mesh net around it to prevent falls. There is a large slide that allows for multiple children to go down at the same time.

There is also a little playground that is a monorail! It is such a cute design! The equipment is the cut-out of a monorail with slides and steps on the sides. The kids can really enjoy pretending to ‘ride the rail’ as one child sits in the driver seat and the others play the passengers. The rail continues in front of the train and has a few individual bench seats that could be considered stops along the track.

The playground is not right next to the parking lot. You will need to go up a flight of stairs from the parking lot and you will see a large open field with a baseball field at the far end. You will be able to see the playground through the trees in the back next to the field. Just follow the path around the field. You will pass a bathroom, tennis court and see some outside exercise equipment just below the playground and adjacent to the baseball diamond. When we went to the park, diamond was closed for repairs.

Directions: From highway 58, head south to Naha. Turn left onto the 82. After you pass the expressway, you will see a sign for the 82/241/240 intersection. Turn left onto the 240, which will be the far left turn. Continue straight through the 506 intersection and continue all the way under the bridge to the other side. (The 506 is actually a bridge that goes over top of the 240). Turn left at the next road. Pay close attention as it is small and comes up quickly. There is a pink and white sign with tires on it on this corner. The park will be on your right. There are only about a dozen parking spots.

From the expressway, head south and take the A1 Haebaru exit. Make a U-turn at the next light. Make sure that you do not get back on the expressway. Turn right on the 240 and continue all the way under the bridge to the other side. Turn left at the next road. Pay close attention as it is small and comes up quickly. There is a pink and white sign with tires on it on this corner. The park will be on your right. There are only about a dozen parking spots.
