Wen Bing Inside
A night out with a friend led to the discovery of a fantastic Taiwanese Cafe. Wen-Bing is located on the second floor of the small pink building facing the parking lot of Depot Island. The atmosphere was very relaxing. We had a great view of the American Village Ferris Wheel all lit up for the evening. The menu had a large selection with some English and a few pictures. We had a really hard time deciding what to get. They also have some pretty tea pots and cups for sell, some of which decorated the walls.
Wen Bing Chicken
My friend ended up ordering the chicken cutlet and some dumplings. It was the most wonderful chicken cutlet, full of flavor and falling off the bone, sitting on herbs with a sauce.
Wen Bing Dumpling
The dumplings were filled so full that the top was not closed and served with a dipping sauce.
Wen Bing Sweet Sour
The sweet and sour pork was beautiful with fantastic flavor. It had large chucks of pineapple, onion, carrots and green bell pepper, which made it very colorful. There was a choice between two different vinegars, I’m not sure how the flavor would change, but I must have picked well.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This restaurant has moved. It is still in American Village. See map pin below for new spot. Photos may vary from actual appearance.
Is this place still open?! Can someone please tell me the new location. Thanks!
Is this place still open? Went to their cool ‘shack’ by the water twice in a month and nothing. Did they move again?
CHUNG had a bad experience! went to the new location today, great scenery, great service, AMAZING FOOD!! been here over a year and I can say this is my favorite place to eat! prices were good, portions were good as well. My son ate every bite of the pork rice without being told. I ate spicy rice, one of the spicy shrimp meals (forgot the name) which were both amazing, my wife got Taiwanese fried rice, we both got the corn/egg soup and it was all amazing! its in the parking lot between the hotel on sunset beach in american village and the flea market area. I have followed okinawahai.com since we got here and this is my first time posting.
I went to the new Wen Bing location yesterday next to the Vessal Hotel parking lot for lunch. Between 11 and 1430, they have three lunch special options for 980 yen (Crispy chicken, chop suey ramen, and something else). The lunch special includes salad/drink bar. The salad bar have egg drop soup, dim sum, steam buns. Wife and I ordered two things: crispy chicken lunch special and Taiwanese stirfry noodle.
Both were terrible representation of Chinese food. I am ashamed that they call this food Taiwanese. If I had to choose between this and ho-ja (the other craptastic Taiwan restauran)t, I would say even ho-ja is better.
The crispy chicken has been cooked and double cooked and then because I ordered crispy fried, they went and fried it one last time. The meat itself is so over cooked, it tasted like cardboard soaked/fried in oil.
The Taiwanese stir fried noodle consists of only the noodle and bok choy. No meat, no other veggie … Just #%}!?]^ bok choy noodle soaked in oil.
I was disgusted with the food, and I thought — maybe because I ordered the lunch special, they didn’t try very hard… Maybe I should order something special. Squid, shrimp, chicken stir fry with oyster sauce is what I decided on and my god… The whole damn thing was drenched in heavy oil that made me sick with every bite.
I will never go back here. I can cook better than their cook. If you are looking for decent Chinese food, go to San-A’s Osaka Osho or ANA Hotel Laguna Garden in Ginowan.
Went here today. Great food for good prices. They moved just next to the Vessel Hotel Campana (in the parking lot next to it)
Boooo! I loved this place!!! I wonder why it went out of business.
We went looking for it today but couldn’t find it. Where is the distortion fashion buliding?
Actually, they closed to move into a larger location in Depot Island. They are now in the distortion fashion building. *FABULOUS FOOD!*
This place has closed down. 🙁
so good!!! we had the dumplings, sweet n sour pork, beef and lettuce, and chicken cutlets/fried rice. it’s my new favorite restaurant. we loved every dish!
My husband and I stopped there for lunch a few days ago while wandering around trying to decide where to eat. I agree with everything posted already about the great atmosphere, view and friendly staff and would like to add we had the homemade pickles (there were mixed veggies like carrot, cabbage as well), the Taiwanese sausage, the spicy dumplings, the egg drop soup (which had a corn chowder feel to it), and the beef and lettuce dish over fried rice. My husband had a green tea (cold) and I tried the Jasmine milk tea (cold). We ate every last bit of our meal, it was so delicious! We are looking forward to going back there again to try more items from the menu.
I went here with my kids a few weeks ago, and they really liked the food. The prices were reasonable, the service was good, and the food was tastey!
I love this place! There are lunch specials as well that they change up every so often and it comes with unlimited soup, salad, and drinks. But you can also get that on the side for like Y300 extra. My kids like their roast pork ramen and I always get the chicken cutlet on top of fried rice. But my favorite part is dessert: those fried sesame balls are the perfect sweet treat to end my meal! And I get a few extra to go. 🙂
Lunch is also a great time to visit WenBing. The set includes a nice little salad and dessert bar for around 900yen. Great atmosphere, too!
