Thank you to the readers who helped translate the name of this store. I’m sure most of you have seen the new one recently constructed on Highway 23 just past Cocok’s (go right out of Kadena’s gate 2 and follow until you see the store on the left side just past the overpass for pedestrians) and right before CoCo’s, the curry restaurant.
This store has a nice selection of women’s and children’s clothing as well as a wide variety of shoes, handbags, and miscellaneous household items (comforters, towels, and other decorative items). I like this store a lot because it has some nice items for some good prices.
For those of you who are familiar with Gushikawa, the same store has another location which stands kitty corner across from the main Jusco mall (from Courtney main gate, take 75 south until you get to 85, then turn left onto 85. Follow 85 all the way down until you reach the main intersection where Jusco sits. At this intersection, Jusco is on the bottom right, McDonald’s is on the top right, Birthday Store is on the top left and a car auto shop is on the bottom left).
The store in Gushikawa actually has the word “Birthday” in the sign, with the same kanji sign right next to it as the one near Kadena. The store in Gushikawa is actually two separate buildings connected and they have a larger selection of shoes, clothing and maternity items. It would definitely pay off to visit this location. This store also has a kids play area so the kids can be entertained while you shop! I also like this store because they sell jinbei’s at an affordable price and my kids love to wear them.
Their hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 7 days a week.
Don’t forget, if you have some great shopping places to share, please send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you!
that would be a pachinko place.
I went to the Birthday Store today and on the way there, I passed a really interesting looking place. It was called J Park Dino. I’m not sure what it was so if anybody has been there or knows what it is, please let me know.
Does anyone know where I can find a good flower shop off base? I heard that there was one out of Kadena gate 5, but I can never find it. Please if anyone knows where I can find one, I would be so grateful.
Elizabeth, directions to the Gushikawa birthday store from Kadena are:
Go straight out of Kadena Gate 2, Turn left onto 330. Follow 330 past the Koza crossing (329). Turn right onto 85. Main City mall is to the left on 85, and Makeman is on the right on 85. Follow 85 all the way up and down the hill (passing the Makeman on the left). Once you get to the main intersection (JUSCO/AEON mall is on the right), the birthday store is in the top left hand corner of the intersection. This road is ALSO 85. Hope this helps.
How do you get to the Birthday Babies and Kids store from Kadena.
not sure where to post this? LOL but being that this is a fashion store, would anyone know where to get formal dresses and that type of attire?
I’m sooo glad someone finally translated that for me! My friend and I were calling it the “Ladies Store” as a joke because we think the characters look like the word “Ladies”. π
Kate is right, it’s Fashion Centre Shimamura π Been there thrice already and I never leave empty handed. They have trendy yet affordable shoes, cheaper than the ones at San-A or Jusco. π
I forgot to mention that the Gushikawa store has a play area for the kids to hang out while you browse the store. Thanks to reader Anna for bringing this up!
There is a Birthday store in Awase by diagnol from that JUSCO
I went to that first store you mentioned once and it reminded me of a Ross or Marshalls back in the states. I know that the name of the store is on the bag but of course I cant remember what it was.
Its called `Fashion Centre Shimamura` (γshiγΎmaγmuγra) I think.
